Central Bark Sheboygan – Teach Your Dog Cool Tricks!

At Central Bark Sheboygan, we believe that every dog is unique and has specific training needs. That’s why we offer tailored dog training programs that address the specific needs of each dog. Our experienced trainers use positive reinforcement techniques to teach a wide range of skills and behaviors, including:

  • Name recall — We teach dogs to come when called, even in distracting environments, through positive reinforcement.
  • Basic commands — Our trainers teach dogs essential skills such as sit, stay, down, wait, and leave-it using positive reinforcement techniques that can improve your dog’s behavior and make them easier to manage.
  • Door and gate control — Our trainers teach dogs to enter and exit on cue while waiting patiently at gates and doors, preventing them from running out into unsafe areas.
  • Loose-leash walking — Our trainers can help teach dogs to walk calmly on a loose leash, making walks more enjoyable for both the owner and the dog while ensuring safety.
  • Other behaviors — Our trainers can work with the owner and dog on other behaviors or issues such as separation anxiety, barking, or destructive chewing. We provide a personalized approach to address the specific needs of each dog and owner, ensuring that both are happy and satisfied with the training results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s a Behavior Assessment and why is it important?

As part of joining the Central Bark® family, our expert staff conducts a thorough behavior assessment at your local Central Bark store. These assessments help ensure that your dog is placed with a playgroup they’re comfortable with so they can play safely every day they’re with us.

This four-day evaluation, while your dog participates in our Enrichment Day Care, assesses your dog’s:

  • Comfort and social skills with people
  • Social skills and playstyle with other dogs to help determine the playgroup and play schedule they can benefit from the most
  • Comfort in both indoor and outdoor play spaces
  • Comfort in rest areas and a crate
  • Ability to share resources like water and toys in social settings
  • Level of comfort taking treats in social settings

This process gives us a chance to get to know you and your dog while your dog gets acquainted with their new favorite place away from home. Through the entire four days, your dog’s comfort and safety is our top priority.

Once your pup passes all the behavior assessment elements, you are welcome to sign up for any of our daycare services or a sleepover!

To schedule a Behavior Assessment for your dog, please contact your local store.

NOTEPlease bring all required signed forms, vaccination proof, and a collar and leash for your behavior assessment.

How do you train a puppy?

Whether you’re crate training, leash walking, or potty training your pup, consistency is key. It’s crucial to establish a routine, practice positive reinforcement, supervise your puppy (especially when potty training), and avoid punishing your puppy when mistakes happen.

Central Bark® offers everything you need to help you train your puppy. We offer expert training and classes so you and your puppy can learn and bond together.

Can I purchase a single training session or do I have to buy a package?

Our Training Tutor and Enrichment services are available as add-ons to your dog’s day care visit, and while single sessions are available, packages are also offered for your convenience. Please note that prepaid packages are nonrefundable, and all sales are final. We recommend speaking with an associate to determine the best option for your dog’s training needs.

How long does dog training take?

The timeline for learning new behaviors and skills is as unique as every dog! Because each dog is an individual, with different learning histories, breed genetics, and preferences in reinforcers like treats and toys, there is no way to say for sure how long training will take. It’s also important to consider how much time each family has for daily training practice.

Whether you’re crate training, leash walking, or potty training your pup, consistency is key. It’s crucial to establish a routine, practice positive reinforcement, supervise your puppy (especially when potty training), and avoid punishing your puppy when mistakes happen.

Central Bark® offers everything you need to help you train your dog, with expert training and classes so you and your pup can learn and bond together.
