Meet Olive! Olive is a lab/hound mix that has been coming to Central Bark since February 2011. This sweet girl had a brutal life prior to finding her forever home. Back in 2010, Olive was found tied to a post off of a busy highway with her litter of puppies. The “idiot” that left her there neglected to contain the puppies and they were left to wander along the road. By the time a Good Samaritan pulled over to rescue Olive, all of her puppies had been killed [by cars] and lying around her. In addition to her mental anguish, she was fighting emaciation, mange, a severe eye infection and parasites. She was taken to the local pound, which also happened to be a high kill shelter. She sat in her kennel, lethargic and depressed. Fortunately, the St. Francis Society got wind of Olive’s story and they pulled her from the shelter. They spread the word on this angel and she found a loving family quickly. However, she was going to be facing quite a long road to recovery. To this day, Olive is in a loving and wonderful home. She still has some skin issues (severe allergies) but overall she is in great health thanks to Dan and Jo. She has had a few hiccups here at Central Bark, showing some nervousness and trust issues, but her parents and our handlers have worked with her and she has been approving daily. She even initiates play, especially with her boyfriend Ozzie, the German Shorthair Pointer. Olive’s tale is one of so many abused and neglected dogs. However, it just goes to show the power of love and how a lucky girl like Olive can go on to live a wonderful life in a wonderful home. We are so blessed to be part of her happiness. Congratulations Miss November 2012! You deserve it!
Congrats, Olive!
