About Central Bark West Palm Beach

Don and Carolyn are a brother and sister ownership team that grew up on a small farm outside of Calgary near the base of the Rocky Mountains in Canada.  Carolyn always had a passion for dogs and horses and loved raising and training quarter horses.  She did very well as a young girl, showing and placing at the National and World Championship levels in her late teens and early twenties.  She also loved the family’s border collies and loved to train them when she was younger.   Throughout her life she has owned German Shepherd mixes, a Siberian Husky, a Lab and a Rottweiler.  Currently she has a Jack Russell Chihuahua cross named Chip and a Blue Heeler named Asic.

She learned many management skills working in dental administration.  She also worked as a vet assistant which allowed her to spend most of her days around people and animals, which she loved.  This led her to work for a large pet resort prior to moving to Florida.  Working with dogs, leading a team and meeting new people in Florida is like a dream come true for Carolyn.

Don has worked in aviation as a pilot and later in corporate sales with aerospace customers.  He and his wife Mary-Lou have raised 4 children and together have run a few smaller businesses in the past.  Don is very excited to be able to work with Carolyn to develop the West Palm Beach location.  There family pet is a Giant Schnauzer named Holly that is spending her retirement years lounging in the warm sun, playing with the adult kids and their spouses and cuddling with a few human grandchildren whenever possible.

Don and Carolyn and their team look forward to meeting you and your family in the near future.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to train a dog?

After decades of experience, we know that reward-based training is the most humane and effective way to train dogs and address unwanted behaviors. With reward-based training, you can build a loving, trusting bond that enhances your relationship with your dog for a lifetime of happiness.

Positive reward-based techniques help puppies and dogs develop essential life skills and behaviors that will enrich their lives at home and day care. These methods set dogs up to succeed and reward them for performing desired behaviors. Rewards are tailored to the dog’s preferences and include food treats, time to play with a favorite toy or verbal praise.
