MARCH DOG OF THE MONTH IS MAYZEE
Mayzee is a …Labradoodle. The “doodles” are “designer dogs,” bred to have the characteristics of two separate breeds, One of them being a poodle which can be a toy, miniature or standard. Mayzee’s doodle has a rather complex background. Her father was a Standard Poodle, her mother was a Labradoodle and Grandmother was a Black Lab.
This makes her special and you can be sure that Mayzee is exactly that…special…and our March Dog of the Month.
The Poodle, though often equated to the beauty with no brains, is exceptionally smart, active and excels in obedience training. The breed comes in three size varieties, which may contribute to why Poodle is one of the most popular breeds according to AKC® Registration statistics. Poodles can be a variety of solid colors, including white, black, apricot and gray.
The breed originated in Germany as a water retriever. The stylish “Poodle clip” was designed by hunters to help the dogs move through the water more efficiently. The patches of hair left on the body are meant to protect vital organs and joints which are susceptible to cold. The Standard variety is the oldest of the three varieties. The Miniature variety may have been used for truffle hunting. The Toy Poodle was often used in performances and circuses. Mayzee is definately more poodle than Lab, genetically and her personality!
She is a diva with a dominant streak. She can play, be friendly, run and romp. Then there are the times when she is reserved, aloof, and queen of the playgroup. Mayzee began coming to Day Care at Central Bark in the spring of 2010. She also likes other services offered. She loves to be groomed. It has been said that Mayzee has the longest eyelashes of any dog we have ever seen.
Mayzee has an outgoing personality and is friends with everyone. She has taken several training classes and her good manners, displayed here in the lobby, show that training pays off! Mayzee enjoys day care as well as walks in the park with her mother, Robin. Robin is Director of Pastoral Care at Mount Alverna Village a Parma Senior Living Facility.
An active woman, she is very busy with her job, volunteering, and school. She will earn her Doctorate in Ministry this year. Her volunteer work includes a food concession at the Medina county Fair that makes money for her church. Robin is a caring and loving woman who is a great “mother” to Mayzee.
Let’s congratulate Mayzee as our March 2014 Dog of the Month!
