When we are celebrating the holidays, we of course want to share the fun and joy with our entire family, including our beloved canine companions. There are lots of fun toys and pre-packaged treats and chews that your dog may love, but before adding anything to your last-minute holiday shopping list, grab a few ingredients and try this homemade treat instead!
Spiced Apple Cookies
For our first treat recipe you’ll need:
- 1 Red Apple, core and seeds removed, sliced into ¼” slices.
- 1 Cup of Cinnamon Apple Sauce, no added sugar (no xylitol).
- 2 Eggs
- 2 Cups of dry Quick-Cook Oatmeal
Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, mix the dry Quick-Cook Oatmeal, Cinnamon Apple Sauce, and Eggs together. On a non-stick baking sheet, use a tablespoon to place your mix in large drops with about 2 inches of space between each drop. Take a slice of Red Apple and place one on top of each drop of the mixture. Place your baking sheet in the oven and cook for 20-25 minutes or until your apple slice is golden brown. Allow your pups Spiced Apple Cookies to cool for 10-20 minutes before serving. Refrigerate cookies once cooled.
