Congrats, Tia and Dublin!

May BRINGS US TWO DOGS OF THE MONTH!

First, there is Tia, a Standard Poodle. Tia’s “parents” are Karen and Ed. Karen and Ed have a son, Robert. Robert has a delightful pooch named Dublin. Dublin is mostly Beagle…and is really, really small. Now, if we have this straight, then Tia is Dublin’s aunt, correct? These two dogs are the greatest of friends and are always together so they are jointly, May’s Dog of the Month. Around Central Bark, they are just called, “The Girls!”

Dublin was the first one to come to Central Bark, but when Aunt Tia found out how much fun Dublin was having, she joined the playgroup. Tia, a very spry and sociable Standard Poodle, has just celebrated her 12th Birthday. Tia is everything that the breed represents. She is exceptionally bright, active, and excels in obedience training. (Poodles rank second on the dog intelligence scale, bested only by the Border collie.) Poodles come in three sizes, Standard, Miniature, and Toy, which may contribute to why the Poodle is one of the most popular breeds according to AKC® Registration statistics. They also come in many colors. Tia, a Standard, stands over 15 inches tall at the shoulder. The Standard is the oldest breed of the three.

Tia is a playful dog and loves to romp with Dublin and her smaller friends. Dublin looks like a “toy” Beagle, although there is no such breed. She hates the cold weather and insists on wearing her sweater at all times. She adores playing with the big dogs, small dogs, and those in between! After she has exhausted herself with play, she adores being held…like a baby! Beagles are the happy-go-lucky, friendly, spirited, lovable dogs that make wonderful family pets. They are favored for their compact size and short, low maintenance coat. Beagles lived in packs for hundreds of years so they naturally enjoy the company of other dogs and humans. They are curious and comedic, and that describes Dublin to a “T.”

April “May” bring showers, but this month it has brought us two wonderful dogs to be the May Dogs of the Month. Congratulations to “the girls,” Tia and Dublin!
