Congrats, Oscar

Although this is the month of October, our Dog of the Month is a “TREAT.” There are no “TRICKS” here as we write about Oscar! (You knew there would be a Halloween reference somewhere in this story!) Oscar is a Boston Terrier. Known to be highly intelligent with an excellent disposition, the Boston Terrier breed was developed in Boston and is truly the All-American dog! If we had to use just one word to describe Oscar, it would be, “hilarious!” He is an entertainer. Oscar loves to play ALL day, EVERY day. He loves the water, loves the other dogs, and particularly loves the younger “ladies” like Roxy and Stella. He is also an extremely lucky dog because he survived a dreadful ordeal. One freezing cold February night, a family forgot to close their garage door and the next day, they found a shivering, sick, and nearly frozen Boston Terrier inside the garage. He had no collar or identification and clearly needed medical attention. They took him to a vet and found he had developed an overwhelming infection. This family never gave up on Oscar (the name they gave him), and they were able to eventually nurse Oscar back to health. Oscar now sleeps in a big doggie bed with a sheepskin throw that he burrows under to stay cozy. He can even pull it up over his head – to block out those memories of life before he found his amazing family, Bill, Kris, and their son, Liam. Now Oscar lives every moment to the fullest. Carpe diem (seize the day) is Oscar’s mantra and he treasures his good fortune – and the people who saved his life. Congratulations, Oscar, our strong, brave October Dog of the Month! Congratulations also to his rescuers, Bill and Kris and Liam. Best wishes and much luck to Liam as he begins his first year of college.
