Congrats, Maggie!

MAGGIE MAE IS OUR NOVEMBER DOG OF THE MONTH

Clearly, Maggie Mae’s “Mom” must be a big fan of Rod Stewart. One of the lines in his popular song is, “…You stole my heart, I couldn’t leave you if I tried.” That must have been the line Rebecca was thinking about when naming her.

Our Maggie Mae is a high energy “red” Golden Retriever and her life is almost perfect. She lives with Rebecca, who dearly loves Maggie. Rebecca spoils her with love, treats, and lots of time together in “Porchville” (Rebecca’s word). Rebecca exercises Maggie as much as a working mother can, and Rebecca works long hours. She even arranges play dates with her neighbor’s dog, Sasha. Sasha is a big, gentle Rottweiler who is also one of our daycare friends, and a previous Dog of the Month.

All this activity and socializing is still not enough for this ultimate party girl. Maggie Mae is “Golden,” through and through. The Golden Retriever, with its intelligence and eager to please attitude, is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Their working ability has made the Golden Retriever a useful hunting companion, an ideal guide, assistance, and search and rescue dog. Normally, a golden-colored coat is the hallmark of this versatile breed, but you can look at Maggie Mae and see that various shades are also inherent. A Golden can adapt to many different living situations, but requires daily exercise. With his friendly temperament and striking golden color, this breed is both beautiful to look at and a joy to own.

We will see how adaptable Maggie is because she and Rebecca are moving. Their new home has “Deckville,” which substitutes nicely for “Porchville,” and it is even closer to Central Bark. Maggie will still get to play with her BFF, Sasha, even though they won’t be close neighbors.

If you should run into Maggie Mae or Rebecca (she will probably be humming a Rod Stewart song), offer your congratulations because Maggie Mae is our November Dog of the Month.
