Congrats, Katie!

KATIE IS THE DECEMBER DOG OF THE MONTH

Our last Dog of the Month for 2014 is Katie, pictured here with her smaller friends, Chewie, Louis, and Kramer.

Katie is a rescue dog who came to Central Bark in March of 2014 for training. While her lineage is not known, she appears to be part Hound and part Beagle.
If Katie were entered into a Miss American Dog contest, she would win on her beauty alone, just look at her “eye-liner” eyes. She would easily take home the title of Miss Congeniality! This personable and friendly young lady just gets along with everyone.

Katie’s “ parents,” Marcie and Paul, have very busy work schedules and have active social lives, but they did not let that negatively influence Katie’s training and integration into their lives. She excelled in Puppy 2 class and came quite close to passing her Canine Good Citizen test on her very first try. This is extremely fine for an adolescent dog. Katie started day care in “Group 1,” the small, puppy and mature dog group. Now she has friends in all the groups at Central Bark.

Katie is a role model for her good manners. She loves to play on the slide, in the pool, running, romping, etc. You name it and she loves it. Katie occasionally spends the night at Central Bark as Marcie and Paul fly off for the weekend. We mean that literally, as Paul flies for fun and Marcie flies just to be with him.

Katie’s suspected Hound heritage is apparent as she exhibits many of a hound’s good qualities such as a hunting ability, combined with a merry personality. While she is larger than a Beagle, she exhibits those same Hound traits shared with a Beagle. There could also be a bit of the Greyhound in her DNA.

It doesn’t matter what Katie’s ancestry was because it has combined to make one of the sweetest and most even tempered and lovable dogs ever. That’s our Katie, the December Dog of the Month.
