This is Ike, our King of the Play Group and July Dog of the Month! Ike is a mixed breed with no particular breed traits to identify him. He is a rather nondescript black dog, going gray in the muzzle. He weighs about 50 pounds and is in excellent shape for a dog who will be nine years old this summer. However, that is just his outward appearance. The inner Ike is “all things bright and beautiful.” Nobody, but nobody, trifles with Ike! No, Ike is not a bully or an unpleasant creature! He never picks on other dogs or annoys people…because he doesn’t have to. Whatever Ike wants, Ike gets… because others just let him have it. It’s almost as if the others know that Ike speaks softly, but carries a BIG stick. Ike lives to eat…he can finish a bowl of food in three seconds… literally. He will sit so nicely, waiting at the door before treats or food is distributed. Not that he is waiting patiently…rather, he has been well trained! Ike is also fast as lighting when it comes to getting in or out of the playgroup. Ike’s Mom is really his Grandmother. Theresa is a Massage Therapist and Reiki teacher and a Reiki teacher is serene, centered, and knows her place in the universe. Maybe Ike’s kingly presence and good Karma comes from living with Theresa and he has absorbed some of her energies. We know he does have an aura about him that all the other dogs seem to sense. Everyone loves him. If that isn’t good Karma, we don’t know what is! Congratulations, Ike, our July Dog of the Month.
