Congrats, Bridget & Buffet!

Most folks have plenty of reasons to celebrate during the month of December. There is Hanukkah, the First Day of Winter, Christmas, Kwanza and New Year’s Eve. Additionally, for the family of Bridget and Buffet, a pair of Toodles, they can celebrate because their two beige beauties are the December Dogs of the Month! What, you may ask, is a Toodle? You have heard of a Labradoodle and a Goldendoodle, so now meet a Toodle. A Toodle is a cross between a Tibetan Terrier and a Poodle. Everyone knows that a Poodle is exceptionally smart (second only to the Border Collie), active, and excels in obedience training. A real plus of the breed is that they don’t shed. A Tibetan Terrier is not as well known. This breed is strong and hardy and was bred to withstand the extreme temperatures and topography of Tibet. They have large, snowshoe flat feet that help them navigate through Tibet’s heavy snows. They have a protective double coat to help in the cold. The Tibetan Terrier was raised in monasteries by lamas (priests…not the animal) for over 2,000 years. They were considered the “Holy Dogs of Tibet” and were kept as companions, watchdogs, good luck charms and mascots. When you combine these two breeds, you get littermates, Bridget and Buffet, who encompass all the wonderful traits of these two breeds. They are mischievous and high-spirited. The two puppies were belated Christmas presents, not arriving in time for the holiday, but still considered Christmas gifts. One cannot just walk into a pet shop and pick out a Toodle. They are hard to find, but well worth the search. B & B (as they are known to us at Central Bark) arrived by a very long, connecting airline flight from Colorado. Their “parents” claim that the dogs have more frequent flier miles than they do! Having littermates can make training difficult. Therefore, the family pitched in and helped train the dynamic duo at the Central Bark Puppy Classes. Working with the pups was Griffin (14), Alexis (12), and Benjamin (11). While B&B are fun, playful, and a bit of a challenge to train, we have heard that they occasionally share the “dog house” with their youngest brother “Benny”. While Bridget and Buffet mark their birthday on April 1, we know they are nobody’s fool! They are beautiful, delightful, unique, and they are the December Dogs of the Month. Congratulations are in order!
