BLAZE, OUR SEPTEMBER 2014 DOG OF THE MONTH
Right away, we must specify WHICH Blaze is the subject of this month’s story. . September’s Dog of the Month is “Boy Blaze” – to distinguish him from Girl Blaze and Blonde Blaze. (Blaze is a popular name for popular dogs!)
Check out the photo. That is Blaze, our sweet black dog with a white and distinctive blaze on his chest. Blaze and his best buddy, Russ, (owner) are just two bachelors, living the good life. Blaze is most likely a lab mixed with some breed that gave him his distinctive white blaze.
Blaze is just such a creature of habit. He has his own unique routines and will NOT voluntarily deviate from them. Here’s one. Here at Central Bark, Blaze cheerfully lopes out to “his” playgroup, circles it twice, then takes care of “business” before joining in the fun. This routine never changes. At home, Blaze will not eat when Russ gives him his dinner. He sneaks down to the kitchen in the middle of the night and then dines alone! Perhaps Blaze is more comfortable without someone looking at him. Russ says that Blaze is a real homebody, loves being around Russ, and is just not comfortable when routines change.
Blaze has been a welcome addition to Central Bark since May of 2010. Blaze loves to play. We say that about many dogs, but this guy REALLY loves to play a lot. He is a gentle and good friend to everyone. He adores the pool and has a special style while “snorkeling.” He dips his nose into the water until he is submerged to eye level and then blows bubbles as he circles the pool.
Russ is nothing like his friend, Blaze. Russ is a seasoned world traveler and loves exciting places. His farthest visit so far has been to Australia, with maybe Japan or Peru in the near future. His family live in Canton, Ohio and Blaze and Russ visit often and love outings with Russ’s parents.
One place you would never confuse Blaze with another dog is in the morning when he is dropped off at Central Bark. Blaze “sings” and howls all the way down the street, across the parking lot, through the lobby and into the nap room. He has his very own song. It goes with his beautiful, soulful eyes. Maybe he is the reincarnation of some old crooner like Frank Sinatra or Bing Crosby.
Whatever he is, we are proud to name Blaze the September Dog of the Month.
When you see Russ and Blaze give them your congratulations … and then check out those gorgeous eyes on that dog!
Congrats, Blaze!
