October is the perfect month to get outside with your pup and soak up the crisp fall air! From festive Halloween parades to tail-wagging park adventures, there’s no shortage of dog-friendly fun happening around Naperville and Aurora area this month. Whether your furry friend loves costumes, treats, or exploring new places, these local dog events are sure to make your October paws-itively delightful:
Paws in the Park
- Dates: Mondays – October 6, 20, and 27

Mondays from March through October (excluding holidays) are designated dog admission days at the beautiful Cantigny Park. Explore the stunning gardens and grounds with your four-legged friend all day long! Dogs must be leashed (no retractable leashes, please), and please bring proof of vaccinations. Dogs are also not allowed in any of the Cantigny buildings. Parking is $6.
Barktoberfest Flights

If you’re out and about running errands with your pooch, be sure to stop by any of the Two Bostons locations throughout the western suburbs – because Barktoberfest is back! For just $5/flight, treat your pup to five delicious samples of tasty mealtime toppers, either in-store or at home.
Trick or Treat Pet Parade

Attention all four-legged trick-or-treaters – Two Bostons is ready for you! Bring your pup in costume to march in the pooch parade through downtown Naperville. This fun dog event includes 13 stops with treats, three selfie stations, and awards for most creative, best group, and best overall. Registration is $5 (with a $5 coupon to offset the fee) but increases to $10 on October 20!
Costume Pet Parade

Show off your dog’s costumed finery at the Halloween Pet Costume Parade in Bolingbrook! Line-up and entry number pick-up begins at 1:30 between Macy’s and Pandora. Dogs, cats, and even stuffed animals are welcome! And what dog event would be complete without music, a parade announcer, and prizes? Tickets are $10, and proceeds benefit the West Suburban Humane Society.
