About Central Bark Oakdale

Angie was born and raised in Minneapolis, while Chris is originally from Milwaukee.
In 1999 Chris moved to Saint Paul (with his boxer Arlo) to take a job as a sales rep for a building materials wholesaler, which he still does to this day. Angie graduated from Southwest High, then the U of M, then became a commercial property manager eventually running the fifth tallest skyscraper in Minneapolis.

We met in an acting class, which we both took for fun and exploration, in 2002, and married a year later in 2003! We lived in Saint Paul until ‘after the events’ of 2020 when we decided to move to Woodbury. During this transition we decided to invest our time, savings and business experience going forward in life in a new direction that we are both more passionate about (instead of working for corporations) and that is our love of animals, in particular our love of dogs.

That’s when we found the Central Bark franchise; which mirrors our core values of passion, compassion, integrity and respect – for all people and all animals. Like so many, we grew up with pets our whole lives, and have had cats and dogs our entire marriage. After Arlo came another boxer named Baxter. After Baxter came our current puppy Daisy, a high energy ‘bugg’ (boston terrier-pug). Our cats Pooh and Domino have passed.

Outside of work, in recent years Angie has spent time volunteering for MN Boxer Rescue and Meals on Wheels, while Chris has been an unpaid political activist on the side. We are super excited to launch our Whole Dog Care business in the east metro because we will get to meet and bond with owners and pets for years to come and provide Enrichment to both to make their lives Healthy, Happy, and Whole! These aren’t just tag-lines, they are truths, and our dreams coming true.

“We welcome you to join our Central Bark family.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How Does the Staff Manage Dogs With Different Energy Levels or Personalities in the Playgroups?

Our dog socialization day care is built on a unique system of “flexible playgroups” to ensure a safe and positive social environment for every dog. We carefully match your dog with friends based on their age, personality, size, and play style, creating a balanced and stress-free environment. This is especially beneficial for day care for dogs with anxiety or shy puppies, as it provides a low-pressure way for them to build confidence and have a great time.

What is the best dog food?

The best dog food will vary depending on each dog’s dietary requirements, medical needs, breed, and personal preferences.

Every item in our Central Bark® Market is specially selected to enhance your dog’s physical health and nutrition and provide enrichment, happiness, and comfort. We can help you choose from our selection of healthy and nutritious food that will give your pup the energy they need for a whole and happy life.

What are flexible playgroups?

Flexible playgroups allow us to match your dog with the social atmosphere and play schedule they can enjoy and benefit from most. This helps give them a healthy balance of play, rest, and learning and creates a safer social environment with a better quality of play. And our lower dog-to-staff ratios offer more individual attention, education, and love.
