About Central Bark Landover

Mickey is a Certified Professional Animal Care Manage (CPACM), with 15 years of animal care experience, including 12 years with a veterinary hospital. That is in addition to 30 years of experience in human education. Now she oversees Central Bark Landover’s dog care operations and teaches courses in Pet First Aid & CPR. From her very first day in this world, Mickey was raised in Prince George’s County and is now so very proud to be a part of its business community. She is especially happy she can make her contribution to our local economy while following her passion: loving ALL the dogs! You can find her passing out treats in the playrooms, demonstrating doggy dental care in the classroom, or suds’ing up a dog in the salon.

Janet is the business brain behind Central Bark Landover. She has worked for the past 22 years as a corporate manager for a major life insurance company and prior to that was a paralegal. But there was not even one dog in any of those offices, so now she is happy to put her business skills to use in Central Bark. Janet is also a native Marylander, and one of her great loves is spending time on the Chesapeake Bay or the Eastern Shore – with her dogs, of course!

Mickey and Janet are the Moms to three dogs: Chopper, Luigi, and Rio!. (Yes, the exclamation point is part of her name.) They also have Steny, a CAT, their horse, D’Artagnon, and two grandcats, Alice and Ozzie. There are a couple of human kids too, but they can’t recall their names.

“We welcome you to join our Central Bark family.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Rest Period Enrichments?

Rest periods can be paired with fun and interactive food toys (like a frozen peanut butter Kong) to create a rest period enrichment activity for your dog.

Not only are rest period enrichments fun and mentally stimulating for your dog, but they also help build positive associations and crating skills. Hence, dogs are calmer, quieter, and more relaxed. For dogs, being comfortable in a crate is a life skill that is incredibly useful for them and their owners.

Did you know? Scientific studies have shown that licking and chewing behaviors (especially those that involve food rewards!) are self-soothing, decrease heart and respiratory rates, and even release dopamine in a dog’s brain.

What is Stay-n-Play?

Our Stay-n-Play program offers boarding for dogs that have not enrolled in our day care program. Each overnight guest gets a restful night’s sleep, followed by a day of play, exercise, and plenty of TLC from our staff. Stay-n-Play guests sleep and play in their own designated areas.
