Our female Chow Chow/Golden Retriever, Honey has been attending this awesome Doggydaycare and boarding facility 1-2 days per week for socialization and exercise. The Staff and especially Armando, alway greet her enthusiastically and Honey has the best time playing in their pool and romping about in the inside play area. She even made a special friend, another Retriever and they enjoy their time together every week. We also use their grooming service and have boarded. When Honey comes home, she takes a long nap! I love that Central Bark provides such a well run Day Care experience to help our Honey girl feel excited and happy.
We definitely recommend this facility.

He’s always treated with so much warmth and care, and it shows every time we walk through the door. Over the last few months, Cheetho has lost his sight, and the way the team has supported him through that change has meant the world to us. They’re patient, compassionate, and incredibly attentive to his needs, making sure he feels safe and confident during every visit.

Even with this big transition, Cheetho still gets excited to be there. The staff remembers his quirks, guides him gently, and gives him the extra reassurance he now needs. It’s clear they truly love what they do.

Central Bark is second to none! I love this place for many services. Most recent was getting my Golden doodle “Jax” groomed. His first haircut.🥰 Armando and staff are welcoming anytime you’re there and as for Jax, he loves Central Bark!

Tried a new grooming place in Spring, and all I can say is WOW! Our little guy looked so handsome!

Amy gave him a summer buzz worthy of a pup date night. 🐶 The Mohawk turned out even better than I expected. He’s had a Mohawk before, but this was by far the best one yet. Honestly, his entire haircut was the best he’s had since he was a puppy.

He enjoyed the experience, looked adorable, and we will definitely be back!

How does Central Bark mentally stimulate a dog?

At Central Bark®, our goal is to provide a balanced day of play, learning, rest, and love. Learning and mental exercise can happen in various ways, including training activities, brain games, scent work, and more. Our playgroups offer several hours of active playtime paired with learning opportunities during Group Play Skills. This way, dogs have plenty of time to socialize and get their energy out, while also exercising their minds through learning.

During one of your dog’s rest periods throughout the day, they are offered a rest period enrichment activity to stimulate their mind while encouraging healthy rest. These licking and chewing activities involve food rewards, such as frozen peanut butter KONG®. These activities engage their minds while helping foster quality rest.

Did you know? Scientific studies have shown that licking and chewing behaviors (especially those that involve food rewards!) are self-soothing, decrease heart and respiratory rates, and even release dopamine in a dog’s brain.

Training Tutor sessions stimulate the dog’s minds and bodies and help them learn important skills, behaviors, and tricks.

One-on-One Enrichment sessions give the extra attention dogs love and the freedom to use their senses and safely explore their instincts through interactive toys, puzzles, and games.

How are staff trained and what behavior management tools do they use in a playgroup?

Our staff is trained in dog body language and positive playgroup management techniques so they can respond proactively to help avoid issues between dogs. These tools include praise, treats, and work on important Group Play Skills daily like name recall, group sits, and going calmly in and out of doorways and gates. If a dog ever becomes overstimulated during play (just like kids do on the playground sometimes) we use these practiced skills to help redirect dogs into more desired behaviors (like coming to us and offering a sit for a treat) which gives the dog a chance to reset and calm down. When needed, we also utilize play breaks (a short rest in an individual crate) or in-group leash walks if a dog needs a little more help to bring their energy levels back down.

How do you crate train a dog?

For dogs, being comfortable in a crate is a life skill that is incredibly useful for them and their owners. If you have ever traveled with your dog or had the unfortunate experience of an overnight stay at the vet, knowing your dog is comfortable in a crate is immeasurably comforting.

Crate training can take just days or a few months, based on your dog’s age, temperament, and past experiences with crates. The two keys to successful crate training are to keep the experience positive and go slowly.

When your puppy is not in their crate, keep the door open and reward them every time they choose to enter, even if you didn’t ask them to enter it. When crating your puppy, give them a safe enrichment item (like a stuffed Kong) that will keep them busy and allow them to self-soothe while confined. Remember that crate training should take place in a series of small, slow steps that will help your puppy become more comfortable.
