Meet the Team

Amy Smith, Franchisee

Amy’s love of dogs began as a kid when her dad raised & showed German Shepherds, living with 14 of them at one point. During her career as a real estate broker, Amy opened her doggy day care in 2001 designed as a home away from home for black lab pup Abby. An amazing staff helped Amy grow the business which she continues to oversee after 18 years in business with dedicated & long-term leadership at the helm of daily operations. Her focus continues to be on providing a fun, safe & clean environment where our client’s dogs are treated with love, kindness & respect. For Amy, nothing is more rewarding then the wag of a dog’s tail when they arrive for day care & the smiles on her clients faces when they see their dog happy, content & well taken care of at the end of the day. Amy shares her life with sons Roman & Casey, canine companions Dash, Kramer, Jax Stubby, Tula & Sammie and her heart with all her dog friends at Central Bark Tampa.

Peyton Melton, General Manager

Peyton joins Central Bark as our General Manager with an enormous heart for dogs and their well-being. Combining her 8 years of management & team building experience with her passion for dogs is a dream come true for both her and our Central Bark team!  Having successfully completed the Central Bark corporate training program, Peyton’s prior doggy day care experience has given her great appreciation for the level of quality that our day care program provides and she is fully committed to delivering our brand promise to “nurture, enrich & inspire.”  Peyton has prior vet tech experience that expanded her awareness of dog health & behavior and is currently obtaining certification as a Certified Professional Animal Care Manager through the Professional Animal Care Certification Council (PACCC).  She also operates Wags to Riches, a local dog rescue with partner Hannah, that has successfully rescued & adopted out 100 dogs over the last year.   Florida born & raised, Peyton enjoys all the beauty that our state has to offer, spending the quiet moments she gets hiking & swimming with her dogs Juno, Jagger, Romy, Echo & Chili.

Keisha LaCounte, Manager

Keisha has been a dedicated employee of Central Bark for 14 years.   Over this time, she has created a bond with the dogs and our clients alike, earning her the rightful title of Store Manager.  Keisha takes great pleasure in providing the best possible experience for everyone. She loves learning all kinds of new games and techniques to make things fun and interesting on the playground. Keisha has a passion for all things dog, including the latest toys, treats, food, supplements and grooming! She has also been grooming here at Central Bark for 7 years and has an innate talent in finding the perfect look for your dog, as well as creating a nice relaxing environment for a lovely spa session for your pup! You will always see Keisha with a smile and ready to tell you a funny story about the day! Keisha’s adorable fur family includes Chaka and Gilberto whom you will often see greeting our clients in the lobby.

Chelsey Burns, Assistant Manager

Chelsey began her career with Central Bark at the young age of 14!  Currently, in addition to being our Assistant Manager, she continues to successfully balance school and work, studying for her full-time career degree. Through her 10 years as an experienced dog handler, she has developed a unique connection with each of the dogs in her care, especially those with special needs.   Always an animal lover, Chelsey makes sure to lavish each pup of every shape and size, with copious amounts of hugs and belly rubs! If you are lucky enough to be in Chelsey’s play group, you will be sure to feel the warmth of her heart – just like Ellie, her very own rescued hound mix.
