Our Groomer
Melissa
Melissa started her grooming career in 2000 in the Chicago suburbs. Quickly she fell in love with grooming and had the opportunity to travel with professional dog handler grooming and showing multiple breeds of dogs. In 2011 she moved to Washington state where she groomed in a veterinary clinic and learned some of the medical sides of dog ownership and worked on special needs dogs that needed a more delicate hand. She also helped open a new grooming shop that quickly became very successful and was voted best groom shop on Whidbey Island. While in Washington she volunteered with the local 4-H club to pass on her knowledge of grooming and showing dogs to the next generation. She loves to attend grooming conventions to stay up to date on the latest equipment and attend classes to further her grooming knowledge. She currently shares her home with an English Setter, Doberman, and a Standard Poodle. Melissa strives to make sure your pet is comfortable and has a pleasant experience. She enjoys grooming all breeds and her goal is to make sure your dog’s tail is always wagging.

As part of joining the Central Bark® family, our expert staff conducts a thorough behavior assessment at your local Central Bark store. These assessments help ensure that your dog is placed with a playgroup they’re comfortable with so they can play safely every day they’re with us.
This four-day evaluation, while your dog participates in our Enrichment Day Care, assesses your dog’s:
- Comfort and social skills with people
- Social skills and playstyle with other dogs to help determine the playgroup and play schedule they can benefit from the most
- Comfort in both indoor and outdoor play spaces
- Comfort in rest areas and a crate
- Ability to share resources like water and toys in social settings
- Level of comfort taking treats in social settings
This process gives us a chance to get to know you and your dog while your dog gets acquainted with their new favorite place away from home. Through the entire four days, your dog’s comfort and safety is our top priority.
Once your pup passes all the behavior assessment elements, you are welcome to sign up for any of our daycare services or a sleepover!
