Katie (w/ Tia)

General Manager

Katie has been with Central Bark™ since 2003 and we have enjoyed every moment. Her sense of humor and hard work make her one unforgettable gal! We were thrilled to have Katie join our management team and hoped to get her hooked – of course we did just that. Within months Katie was managing the Central Bark North Side location. Katie’s BA in Mass Communications and Journalism from UW - Milwaukee, management experience and her love for all things furry make her the perfect fit. She is pictured here with her 6 year old Yorkie, Tia, whom she adopted from the Yorkshire Terrier Rescue in Wisconsin with the help of Judi Idling, a customer at the Downtown location. Katie is certified in Pet First Aid and has attended seminars by dog gurus Sue Sternberg and Jean Donaldson. Katie is very proud of the Central Bark North Side and Downtown locations so stop in for a personally guided tour of this facility, but don’t be offended if her dog Tia is a bit aloof, after all she is a Yorkie!!

Manager

Kate began working for Central Bark Downtown as a part time dog handler in 2004. Since then, she has worked at 3 locations in the Milwaukee area and helped with the opening of Central Bark Wauwatosa. Working her way up, she took over managing the Downtown Central Bark in February 2006. At that point, she knew she had found her dream job because she would get to spend everyday with dogs. And lets face it…is there any better way to spend the work day? Kate has attended many conferences and seminars to further her knowledge in dog behavior and is certified in Pet First Aid. She shares her home with her two canine kids (both rescues), Aida Mae, a 6 yr. old Blue Heeler/Beagle mix and Willow, a 3 yr. old deaf Australian Shepherd affectionately known as “Deafy”. Anyone that stops by the Downtown location will get a personalized greeting from Willow, as all of our customers know she likes to be the center of attention. The combination of Kate’s love of animals, dog handling background, and outgoing personality make her a great asset to the team.

Dog of the Month!

Congrats, Keller!

Milwaukee Downtown, WI August Dog of the Month!

Keller is an almost, 3 year old German Shorthair Pointer mix. He has been coming downtown 3 days a week for 9 months now and before that he had been attending our Northside location for some time. If we could only pick one thing to talk about that Keller is fantastic at; it would be chasing things, especially shadows. He could spend hour after hour, day after day, and week after week chasing shadows. We have faith that one of these times he will actually catch one. Being deaf, Keller doesn’t have to deal with any interruptions so his shadow chasing fun can last as long as he wants it too. Keller, when taking a break from shadows, loves to play with all his friends at day care. And we mean ALL his friends. He’s friends with everyone and everyone loves him, including us humans! Congrats on being Augusts’ Dog of the Month!!!

    FAQ #16

Q: How are the new dog introductions handled?
A: During your dog's behavior assessment we will determine the rate at which your dog is ready for group play. Only when we and the dog are comfortable will group play begin.
