Baghdad dog Ratchet arrives in US

A PLAYFUL black dog named Ratchet has landed in the US to start a new life with the army member who rescued him from a burning pile of rubbish in Iraq.

Ratchet jumped out of his crate and wagged his tail when he arrived in Virginia yesterday, The Courier-Mail reports.Army Specialist Gwen Beberg, of Minneapolis, said she couldn't have got through her 13-month deployment without her little pal. Her quest to get Ratchet to the US gained international media attention after more than 65,000 people petitioned the US Army to let the dog make the trip.
